Catholic radio station to hold launch party

Utah's first Catholic radio station will have a "Station Launch Party" today, 9:30-10 a.m., at the KIHI (AM-1010) radio tower, 6173 W. 2100 South, West Valley City.

The Most Rev. John C. Wester, bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, will bless the station and do a ceremonial flip of the switch to being full-time Catholic broadcasting to Utah.

The station will be part of the Immaculate Heart Radio Network.

Christ United Methodist to install new pastor

The Rev. Dr. Marti Zimmerman has accepted the position of Senior Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 S. 2375 East. She will be installed on Sunday, Aug. 23 at the 10 a.m. church service. Rev. Zimmerman has presided over Smoky Hill United Methodist Church in Centennial, Colo., for the past 17 years. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, studied at the Universitat Regensburg in Germany, received her Masters of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York City and a Doctorate of Ministry from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver Colorado.

The Rev. Steve Goodier, former Pastor at CUMC, has accepted the position of District Superintendent of the Rocky Mountain Region of the United Methodist Church.

Opera presentation at Unitarian church

"Who was Treemonisha: A Conceptual Look at Scott Joplin's Grand Opera," will be presented by David Owens, Mary Craig and friends, on Sunday, Aug. 23, 10 a.m., in the final "summer forum" event at the First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake, 569 S. 1300 East. Christian Life Center to host Chona Pierce

Chona Pierce will perform at the Christian Life Center Church, 2352 E. Highway 193, Layton, on Sunday, Aug. 23, 6 p.m. Tickets are $18.50 in advance or $20 at the door.

Free screening of 'Humanity Ascending'

A free, public screening of the movie, "Humanity Ascending," will be held on Monday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m., at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1710 Foothill Drive.
