Request for prostitute ends with truck being stolen
PROVO — A man who wanted to pay for a little female companionship instead got roughed up by two men who also stole his truck.
Police say the man called an acquaintance who he knew could arrange for a prostitute and agreed to pay $300 for the June 1 set-up, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
However, after the acquaintance, the prostitute and two men arrived at the victim's home near 600 East and 200 South in Provo and got the money, the men began roughing up the victim and his friends and threatened to kill them, according to the affidavit.
The victim said he saw that one of the suspects had a handgun, but he and his friends were able to escape before anyone was injured, according to the affidavit.
Provo Police Capt. Cliff Argyle said the victim finally returned to his house a few hours later and discovered that his truck and several personal possessions were missing.
He called police, but it took officers awhile to get the whole story because the man was embarrassed to explain why the group had been at his house, Argyle said.
Two days later, West Valley City police located the man's truck and returned it, Argyle said. Though driveable, it had been stripped of several internal parts. None of the other possessions were located.
Police finally tracked down the female suspect, who they say bounces from friend's house to friend's house, and booked her in the Utah County Jail last week for investigation of theft and aggravated burglary on $10,000 cash only bail.
She told police the two men, her brother and her brother's friend, had taken the victim's truck because the victim had "disrespected" the female prostitute she had brought, according to the affidavit.
However, she didn't elaborate on how the man disrespected the prostitute, and the victim had no idea what she was referring to, Argyle said.
Police are still looking for the two men.
