OGDEN — An 82-year-old Ogden man was killed Monday when a vehicle struck him while he was crossing the street.
Police said Jerry Leroy Peart was in an intersection crosswalk near 2500 Washington Blvd. when a vehicle passed other cars that had stopped for the man.
The passenger mirror and door post of the Chevy Tracker struck the man while he was nearing the middle of the street and threw him 19 feet, police said.
"He was still in the street after he was thrown," Ogden Police Lt. Tony Fox said.
Charges are being considered against the female driver and a toxicology report was routinely administered.
"There is no indication that she was impaired," Fox said.
According to the driver's statement, other stopped vehicles blocked the man from her view, police said.
