A small fire Saturday morning has displaced a family of six for the next few days.
Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Scott Freitag said the fire was started by a swamp cooler in the attic of the house on 1000 West near 400 North. The fire began around 1 a.m., and the family was alerted by smoke detectors in the home.
Firefighters were able to douse the small blaze quickly, and Frietag said the damage was limited to smoke and water. No injuries were reported.
Two grandparents, two parents and two children were displaced by the fire. The Salt Lake Area Chapter of the American Red Cross was on scene early Saturday to assist the family and provide shelter.
