RICH COUNTY — A Salt Lake man died five days after crashing his motorcycle near Randolph last Friday, officials said.

Cameron Mashavekhi, 51, was riding his 2007 Honda Shadow north on state Route 16 around 7:30 p.m. when he veered off of the road after the highway turned, Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden said. The UHP reported that the man attempted to follow the roadway as it curved left, but he ran off of the road and lost control of the motorcycle.

Mashavekhi sustained serious head injuries in the accident and was transported by medical helicopter to the hospital. He died there Tuesday.

Roden said authorities do not believe Mashavekhi was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but officers did find a helmet at the scene.

"It looks like it was possibly on the side of the bike," he said.
