PROVO — Two high school football players committed to Bronco Mendenhall on Tuesday, which may fill up the Cougars' 2010 recruiting class.

BYU could still recruit some prospects, depending on how missionary service falls with those who have pledged to sign in Feburary.

Alani Fua, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound tight end and defensive end from Westlake, Calif. (Oaks Christian High School), committed Tuesday. He is the younger brother of Stanford junior starting defensive tackle Sione Fua, who was recruited by the Cougars along with Romney Fuga. He had offers from Ohio State, Duke, Arizona, ASU, Oregon State, Washington State and Washington.

Fua, who played sparingly at tight end last year at Oaks Christian behind All-American Chris Coil, reportedly runs a 4.5 time in the 40 and will play defensive end and tight end this year.

"He was ready to decide on BYU at junior day back in June but decided to wait and made his announcement today," said his father, George Fua. "It seems like everyone wants to be part of this great BYU recruiting class of 2010, and he's no different. He's excited to play for BYU and Bronco Mendenhall."

The other player, Drew Phillips, is a 6-foot, 180-pound running back out of Boaz, Ala., who had offers from Wyoming, BYU and SMU. Phillips has been clocked at 4.39 and 4.38 at Central Michigan and the University of Alabama summer camps, according to Scout.com.

BYU now has 24 oral commits for 2010 with three coming in the past five days.
