Crash with deer kills biker

The state highway patrol says a Montana woman was killed and her husband injured Sunday after their motorcycle collided with a deer on a remote central Utah highway.

The Utah Highway patrol says Christian and Pamela Gronning of Sheridan, Mont., were riding a Harley Davidson on state Route 257 near Deseret, about 142 miles south of Salt Lake City, when a deer ran onto the road. Trooper C. Dean Shields says the northbound bike was traveling about 65 mph when it collided with the animal and tipped over, sliding about 200 feet.

Pamela Gronning, 50, was riding behind her husband. Shields says she was wearing a helmet but sustained massive head injuries and died at a hospital in Delta.

Christian Gronning, 58, was injured and admitted to the hospital. He was also wearing a helmet.
