SkyWest Inc.'s second-quarter income was down compared to the same time last year, the company said Thursday.
The St. George-based company reported net income of $26.2 million, or 46 cents a share, for the most recent quarter, compared to $36.4 million, or 63 cents a share, for the same period in 2008.
SkyWest reported operating revenues of $698.8 million for the quarter, compared to $950.8 million for the same period in 2008.
Total operating revenues for the second quarter decreased primarily as a result of decreased fuel cost reimbursements of $232.9 million, paid by SkyWest's major partners, the company said in a news release. SkyWest is reimbursed actual costs, which are recorded as operating revenues. Revenues also fell about $15 million because of reductions in the flight schedules, it said.
