Two people died Friday after a two-seater plane crashed in the mountains in southeast Idaho, just north of the Utah border, officials said.
Franklin County sheriff's deputy Ben Heusser said officials do not know the identity of the victims, where the plane took off or where it was headed.
"We have two confirmed fatalities but no reports of missing planes or overdue aircraft," Heusser said.
The plane was first spotted by some ATV riders who called police when they saw the wreckage sometime Friday morning.
Heusser said the crash took place in a remote part of the county near Bear Lake, Idaho, and police had to contact firefighters working in the area to get its exact location.
The firefighters were able to provide police with the coordinates of the crash, but police are still investigating for more details.
