Phillies' pitcher makes Rockies look Happ-less

PHILADELPHIA — J.A. Happ struck out a career-high 10 batters in his second shutout of the season, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.

Jimmy Rollins, Jayson Werth and Pedro Feliz all homered for the Phillies.

Happ (8-2) tossed a four-hitter in his latest outstanding outing, making a strong argument to remain in Philadelphia's rotation. But it may not be enough for the rookie left-hander. Three-time Cy Young Award winner Pedro Martinez made a rehab start 65 miles away for Double-A Reading. If Phillies officials are convinced Martinez can start in the major leagues, he likely would send Happ to the bullpen.

GIANTS 10, ASTROS 6: At Houston, JoeMartinez came off the disabled list to win his first major league start, EliWhiteside hit a grand slam for his first career home run and San Francisco rallied for a victory over the Astros. Martinez (2-0) pitched in the majors for the first time since he was struck in the head by a line drive from Milwaukee's MikeCameron on April 9, his second outing of the season.

METS 9, CARDINALS 0: At New York, NelsonFigueroa pitched 4 1/3 innings and boosted the offense with a two-run triple after JonathonNiese got hurt, leading the Mets to the victory. AngelPagan hit his second homer in four games and had four RBIs, and DavidWright also homered for New York. Figueroa (1-2) allowed four hits in his first major league win since Sept. 1 at Milwaukee. BobbyParnell completed the six-hitter for his first career save in five opportunities.

BRAVES 6, PADRES 2: At San Diego, TommyHanson pitched six solid innings to lead the Braves to the victory. Hanson (6-2) gave up two runs and five hits. Atlanta's 14 hits were all singles. NateMcLouth and ChipperJones had three apiece, and each Braves regular had at least one hit.

NATIONALS 5, MARLINS 4: At Washington, CristianGuzman fell a home run shy of the cycle, AdamDunn homered in his third straight game and Washington tied a season high with its fourth straight win. RyanZimmerman and RonnieBelliard also connected for the Nationals, who improved to 10-6 under interim manager JimRiggleman.

REDS 4, CUBS 0: At Cincinnati, ScottRolen returned from a beaning that left him sore and blurry for two days, then hit a two-run homer on his first swing to help Cincinnati snap an eight-game losing streak. JustinLehr (1-0) limited the Cubs to four hits in his first complete game. The 32-year-old Lehr was a reliever for Oakland and Milwaukee in 2004-06, and was making only his second start in the majors. It was his first win since May 18, 2006, with the Brewers.
