Three LDS teens compete in pageant

Ashley Moser, Miss Hawaii Teen USA, was picked as Miss Congeniality at the Miss Teen USA pageant on Friday, July 31.

Tasha Smedley, of Syracuse, Utah, Miss Utah Teen USA, was one of the 15 finalists. Whitney Nicole Nelson, of Phoenix, Miss Arizona Teen USA, also competed.

Moser, Smedley and Nelson are LDS and have all earned the Young Women Recognition Award. Moser, 17, is also a four-year LDS seminary student and plans to serve a mission. Nelson plans to attend Brigham Young University and major in business management in pursuit of having her own fashion design business.

200th birthday party for pioneer

The premier showing of a film honoring the life of Charles C. Rich will be Aug. 15 at the Porter Lane Chapel, 270 N. 400 West, Centerville, during the Rich Family reunion meeting at 10 a.m. in commemoration of Rich's 200th birthday.

On Aug. 14, the family is having a celebratory banquet and birthday dinner at the Centerville South Stake Center and reservations are required. Rich led one of three pioneer companies that arrived in Utah in October 1847. He also led, along with Amasa Lyman, the colonizing of San Bernardino in California and was mayor there. He also helped colonize Bear Lake Valley and Rich County in Utah and St. Charles in Idaho are named in his honor.

KBYU celebrates cathedral's 100th

KBYU's Classical 89 will be broadcasting concerts from the Cathedral of the Madeleine in celebration of their 100th anniversary starting Aug. 9.

Also in connection with the anniversary, the station will be airing "A Century of Faith and Service," which includes five short features on the cathedral's history, Aug. 10-14 at 7:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:55 p.m., and "Thinking Aloud Visits Salt Lake City's Cathedral," which is a detailed look at the cathedral, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The broadcasts will be aired at 89.1 FM, 89.5 FM in Utah County and online at www.classical89.org/streaming

New foreign, U.S. indexing projects

New indexing projects recently added to FamilySearch include those for Italy, New Zealand, Per? and several in the United States.
