1. Columbus (8-3-9): Quietly and methodically the defending champs are back on top.

2. Houston (10-5-5): Allowed three goals to D.C. United, yet still prevailed 4-3 over the weekend.

3. Chicago (8-3-8): Held RSL in check for 90 minutes as Chicago remains one point behind Crew.

4. Seattle (7-4-8): Even with 10 men, surrendering four goals to San Jose was quite shocking.

5. D.C. United (6-4-10): Had a chance to make a statement but instead lost 4-3 at Houston.

6. L.A. Galaxy (6-3-10): Took a break from league action by hosting Barcelona and losing 2-1.

7. New England (6-5-6): Despite early struggles, the Revs are just three points out of playoff spot.

8. Chivas USA (8-6-3): The Goats are hoping a bye week will get their offense back on track.

9. Toronto FC (7-7-6): Continue to hover around .500 and earned a draw with Toronto last week.

10. Colorado (7-6-6): Hung close at Columbus but couldn't put anything away.

11. Real Salt Lake (6-8-5): Loss at Chicago drops the club's road record to 1-7-2 this year.

12. FC Dallas (5-9-5): Four goal outburst by Cunningham led to a 6-0 win over Kansas City.

13. Kansas City (5-7-6): Another mediocre season just cost coach Curt Onalfo his job.

14. San Jose (4-10-5): Took advantage of a Seattle red card to thrash the Sounders 4-0.

15. New York (2-15-4): Red Bulls avoided a loss last week, but only because it had a bye.

D.C. United at Houston

Houston clings to a three-point lead in the West with D.C. United just two points out of the East lead. Both teams would love to secure all three points in the Texas heat.
