PANGUITCH — A Nevada woman in her 50s was killed when the semitrailer she was driving flipped onto its side and burst into flames.
Just before 8 p.m. Monday, Janine Koons, of Stage Coach, Nev., was driving a trailer with a full load of ice cream on state Route 20 near Panguitch when she rounded a curve too fast, causing the large vehicle to tip and crash into a guardrail, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden.
The truck caught fire and the cab was fully engulfed, Roden said.
Although her body was badly burned, an autopsy will be conducted to determine if Koons was killed by the fire or the initial crash. Investigators also did not know Tuesday if Koons was knocked out after the crash or conscious but trapped in the cab and unable to get out before the fire started.
