SOUTH OGDEN — A South Ogden man was arrested early Sunday after breaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend and threatening her with a knife, police said.
Around 1:18 a.m., the man, 21, broke into the home on Grant Avenue and threatened the woman, said Marci Edwards, director of departmental affairs for the South Ogden police. He then locked her out of her home while her three children were inside.
By the time officers arrived to search the home, the man had fled the scene. Police were able to locate the children, who were still asleep and unharmed, and confirmed that "he did steal some items," Edwards said.
The man returned to the scene before the officers had left and was placed under arrest. He was then booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of aggravated burglary and domestic violence assault. Edwards said the man's return to the scene made the whole arresting process relatively easy.
"It worked out well for us," she said.
