FRUITLAND, Duchesne County — A South Jordan man is dead following a crash on state Route 40 Saturday afternoon.
David Hepworth, who was riding a motorcycle, was hit as he attempted to make a U-turn from the shoulder of the road.
An oncoming passenger car struck Hepworth while trying to swerve away, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Johnson.
The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m., and Hepworth, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle.
Medical personnel later pronounced him dead.
