Live-in boyfriend accused in sex case
SPRINGVILLE — Police arrested a 42-year-old man who they say abused two young girls, one of them several times a week over a two-year period.
Springville police say a 14-year-old girl went to her mother and reported that the mother's live-in boyfriend had been abusing her three to four times each week from second grade to fourth grade.
The girl said the boyfriend would come into her bedroom and sexually assault her while she was pretending to be asleep, according to a police affidavit.
The girl's older half-sister also reported that the man had sexually assaulted her once several years ago, police said.
When the older girl woke during the assault and questioned the man, he said he was checking to make sure there were no clothes covering the heating vent in the room, according to the affidavit.
The man was arrested by police but invoked his right to an attorney and declined to answer any questions, police said.
He was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and sodomy on a child on $25,000 cash or bond bail.
