An inaugural Craft Lake City art and crafts festival will be Aug. 8 at the Gallivan Center.

Craft Lake City, an outdoor alternative arts festival, will showcase more than 80 vendors specializing in handmade goods. The art event is a chance for craft enthusiasts or those who are just starting out to meet with others interested in alternative art.

The free public event will feature silk-screened posters, progressive crafts, do-it-yourself designs, reconstructed clothing, knitted items, jewelry and letter-pressed books.

The festival is modeled after national alternative craft festivals such as the Renegade Craft Fair and the Bazaar Bizarre.

To add to the atmosphere, a different local band will perform each hour. The lineup includes Coyote Hoods, Mad Max and the Wild Ones, Aye Aye, Casey Prestwood & the Burning Angels, Cub Country, Subrosa, Tiny Lights and Mammoth.
