MWC finalizes '09-10 hoops slate

Utes, Cougars to face off in rivalry games Jan. 30, March 3

PROVO — The Mountain West Conference has released the league schedule for the BYU men's basketball team along with the games which will be televised by MWC broadcast partners CBS College Sports Network (CBS C), VERSUS and The mtn.

The MWC television schedule features two BYU games on VERSUS, two on CBS C and 15 on The mtn. The mtn. will broadcast three home nonconference games — vs. Bradley on Nov. 13, vs. Weber State on Nov. 27 and vs. Arizona State on Dec. 8 — and 12 conference games.

CBS C will broadcast conference clashes with San Diego State (Feb. 23 or 24 in Provo) and instate rival Utah (March 3 in Salt Lake City). VERSUS will broadcast league games against UNLV (Feb. 6 in Las Vegas) and New Mexico (Feb. 27 in Provo). Any additional television broadcasts and game times will be announced at a later date.

BYU will host 19 games at the Marriott Center in 2009-10 and will play a neutral-site game at EnergySolutions Arena. The Cougars open conference play on Jan. 6 against UNLV (The mtn.) in the Marriot Center.

BYU's conference schedule concludes at TCU (The mtn.) on March 6. The MWC men's championship tournament will be held in Las Vegas from March 11 to 14. The mtn., CBS C and VERSUS will broadcast games at the Tournament.

UTES' SCHEDULE FINALIZED: The University of Utah men's basketball team finalized the dates of its entire schedule Friday as the Mountain West Conference office released the league pairings.

The Runnin' Utes kick off their MWC schedule at home with a 1:30 p.m. matchup against TCU on Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

Utah will play all of its MWC games on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with the exception of a Tuesday night contest in Salt Lake City against San Diego State. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. MST.

The first of the two Deseret First Duel competitions between Utah and BYU will take place in Provo on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. and will be televised live on The mtn.

The Runnin' Utes will host the Cougars in their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m., live on CBS College Sports.

The Runnin' Utes' first regular-season game will be played Friday, Nov. 13, at home against the University of Idaho.

Other nonconference highlights include a home games against Utah State on Nov. 18, Michigan on Dec. 9, Oklahoma on Dec. 12 and Illinois State on Dec. 19, and road games at Weber State on Dec. 2, Pepperdine on Dec. 23 and LSU on Jan. 2.
