Thirty civics teachers from around the state will participate in the Hinckley Institute of Politics 10th annual Huntsman Seminar in Constitutional Government for Teachers beginning Monday, Aug. 3.

The focus of the five-day seminar is to improve the quality of civic education in Utah schools. Participants interact with political experts, judges, university faculty and elected officials such as Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert, Rep. Jim Matheson, members of the Utah State Legislature, Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon, KSL Radio host Doug Wright and other major players in national, state and municipal politics.

The seminar is sponsored by the Jon and Karen Huntsman Foundation and directed by Kirk L. Jowers and Dan E. Jones, at the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics.

Teacher participants were chosen based on applications to the program.
