BUTTERFIELD CANYON — A woman was flown to the hospital in serious to critical condition Thursday after being thrown from her horse and then stepped on.

The accident happened just after 8 p.m. when a 43-year-old woman was riding in Butterfield Canyon near 8700 West and 13400 South. The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office did not know Friday what caused the woman to be tossed.

She was flown by medical hospital to a local hospital.
