A Colorado woman died Wednesday on the Green River after the raft she was riding in overturned on some rapids, National Park Service officials said.
The 54-year-old woman from Craig, Colo., was on a private rafting trip when the raft she was riding in overturned on Triplet Falls near Lodore Canyon at Dinosaur National Monument, National Parks spokeswoman Mary Risser said.
The boat overturned in the middle of the rapid and the woman floated downstream, she said. She was retrieved by members of her party in a pool "right at the bottom of the rapid," Risser said. The woman was unresponsive when she was found.
Members of her rafting group performed CPR on her for more than an hour, Risser said. They then transported her by boat to Echo Park, which Risser said is a three-hour trip. An ambulance then took her to a hospital.
The raft's occupants, including the victim, were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
