OGDEN — A chemical explosion in an Ogden building sent three people to the hospital Monday with face and head burns.
The explosion happened at Wasatch Laboratories, 2890 Reeves, just before 2 p.m., Deputy Ogden Fire Chief Chad Tucker said.
Wasatch Laboratories, a company that does chemical testing, leases a building owned by the American Nutrition pet food plant in the area, according to Tucker.
"They had a delivery of petroleum ether (Monday) and they noticed that one of the canisters was bulging," Tucker said. "They were trying to move the can outside when it exploded."
The explosion blew out the doors and windows in the building and three men suffered burns as a result of the explosion, according to Tucker.
Two of the men were taken to McKay Dee Hospital and one was sent to Ogden Regional for treatment.
