VERNAL — The Chepeta Lake road will be closed to motorized traffic for four days from Aug. 3-6 to replace a large culvert at the Lynn Creek crossing about three miles from Chepeta Lake.
"This project is designed to replace the existing culvert, which may act as a potential fish barrier," District Ranger Nick Schmelter said. "The new culvert is 102 inches in diameter and will have baffles so that streambed material can be installed in the culvert to simulate a streambed and assist with the passage of native Colorado River cutthroat trout."
During the project, there will be no motorized access to Chepeta Lake or the trailheads near Chepeta Lake.
