St. Paul Lutheran Church and School began with only seven members in 1940 when it was formally organized and joined the Missouri Synod. The congregation met in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and by 1942 had grown to 110 members. On Jan. 5, 1942, St. Paul's gained their first building, at 28th and Quincy streets. As church membership grew to over 200 by 1956, the congregation purchased property at 33rd and Harrison, the site of today's church facilities. The "Old Red Barn" on the property was remodeled in 1959 and named "Luther Hall," the home for the day school. After the property at 28th and Quincy was sold in 1961, ground was broken for the current church building, dedicated on March 24, 1963. Today the church 5serves more than 500 communicant members and 750 baptized members.
