FILLMORE — A truck driver suffered burns when two semitrailers collided and burst into flames on northbound I-15 Thursday afternoon.
The accident took place north of Fillmore, near milepost 183, just after 2 p.m., said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden, when a semitrailer hit the rear of another semitractor, causing a fire that engulfed both rigs.
The driver of the semitrailer that ran into the other rig suffered burns and was flown by helicopter to the Intermountain Burn Center at University Hospital, according to Roden.
Northbound traffic was closed until fire authorities were able to control the fire. Both semitrailers were loaded with produce.
The incident is still under investigation, Roden said.
The identity of the drivers has not yet been released.
