A TRAX operator found a man dead when the train came to the end of the line Monday afternoon.

The conductor came to his last stop on the University Line near University Hospital at about 3:30 p.m., and as he went from the front of the train to the back in order to get ready to go back down the hill, he noticed the man, Utah Transit Authority spokesman Gerry Carpenter said.

"He noticed a passenger who was pale and unresponsive, so he called for medical assistance," Carpenter said.

Medical help arrived quickly, but the man, 44, was pronounced dead, according to Carpenter.

University of Utah Police are investigating the death.

The man's name was unavailable Wednesday evening.
