BRIAN HEAD, Iron County — A 52-year-old man from Nevada died Saturday afternoon near Brian Head after the motorcycle he was riding traveled into oncoming traffic.
Joel Macrae, 52, of Spring Creek, Nev., was on a 1996 Harley-Davidson heading west on Highway 134 around 2:34 p.m. when his motorcycle drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck and run over by an oncoming vehicle, the Utah Highway Patrol reports.
There were three passengers in the other vehicle, a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, and all were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. All three are residents of Panguitch. One was treated at the scene of the accident for minor injuries.
Macrae was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and officers are unsure why the motorcycle "laid down on a curve and came across the travel lane."
Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Brian Hyer said the accident is under investigation.
