PORTLAND, Ore., — The Bees rallied with five runs in the eighth inning and one more in the ninth, as Salt Lake came from behind for an 8-5 win over the Portland Beavers on Saturday night.

The Bees were down 5-2 going into the eighth when Gary Patchett led off with a walk. Brad Coon followed with a single and pinch-hitter Abel Nieves doubled in Patchett. Sean Rodriguez singled in Coon to make it a 5-4 game, and Terry Evans' sacrifice fly brought home Nieves with the tying run. With two outs, Adam Pavkovich singled home the go ahead run and Carlos Colmenares' first career Triple-A hit gave Salt Lake an insurance run. Evans' RBI single in the ninth closed out the scoring.

Daniel Davidson (2-1) picked up the win with a scoreless eighth inning, as the Salt Lake bullpen combined for four shutout innings.

Jeremy Hill struck out the side in order for his 18th save of the season. Evans led the Bees with two hits and three runs batted in, while Rodriguez added two hits and two RBIs.

Pavkovich chipped in three hits and one RBI, as the Bees pull back to within 21/2 games of first-place Colorado Springs in the Pacific Northern Division.

BEES WAX: The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim released right-handed pitcher Rudy Seanez on Saturday. Seanez, 40, appeared in nine games for the Bees in 2009, owning a 4.00 ERA in nine innings. He joined the Bees on May 29 from extended spring training with the Angels. Seanez was a member of the 2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
