The Jazz today formally announced that they are matching the offer sheet restricted free agent power forward Paul Millsap signed last week with Portland.

The match is dependent on Millsap passing a physical exam, which he is taking today.

"Keeping Paul on our roster was one of our main goals this offseason," Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said in a statement released by the Jazz. "We look forward to watching him play a key role on this team for many years to come."

"We are excited to keep Paul with the Jazz," Jazz president Randy Rigby added in the same release. "Since he arrived in 2006, he has been an integral part of our team, establishing himself as one of the up-and-coming power forwards in the NBA."

The release confirms information that was leaked Thursday.

The deal is worth $32 million over four years, including $10.3 million payable before the end of the month.

Millsap, a second-round draft choice in 2006, averaged 13.5 points and 8.6 rebounds in 76 games last season.

With the match made, the Jazz continue to look to trade starting power forward Carlos Boozer. But nothing is imminent in the regard, O'Connor said late Friday afternoon.
