WEST JORDAN — Investigators have determined that a three-alarm fire that destroyed a popular restaurant began near ceiling fans over the restrooms.
Jim's Family Restaurant, 7609 S. Redwood Road, was destroyed in a fire that started late on July 8. The restaurant was closed at the time and no one was injured. The building was a complete loss. Damage was estimated at $1.5 million.
Investigators have determined the blaze was accidental, said West Jordan Fire Battalion Chief Reed Scharman.
Although the fire started near the fans, Scharman said it was still unknown Friday if there was a problem with the fans themselves.
The fire caused the ceiling of the restaurant to collapse on some firefighters battling the flames, but no one was seriously injured. The building had stood for about 25 years.
