A man shot at least four times late Wednesday night was upgraded to serious and stable condition.
Investigators had few leads on suspects as the victim was not being cooperative with police, said Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan.
The victim, a man in his mid-20s, told police he was walking about 11 p.m. when a car drove past and the occupants opened fire. The victim, however, said he did not know how many people were in the vehicle and could not provide a description of it, McGowan said.
The man was shot at least four times, twice in his abdomen and two more times in his upper leg, Salt Lake City Police Lt. James Tracy said.
The victim continued walking to a Tesoro gas station, 2280 S. Highland Drive, where he slumped down next to a pump, McGowan said. The gas station attendant noticed him and called 911.
The man was transported to University Hospital in critical condition. Detectives were investigating whether the incident was gang related.
