Recap: The Cougars rally to score 11 points in the final quarter, including a 50-yard touchdown pass from Robbie Bosco to Adam Haysbert with 1:37 remaining, to register a huge upset on the East Coast in the season-opener.

No. 13 BYU 47, Baylor 13

Recap: Showing no signs of a letdown after knocking off Pitt, the Cougars cruise to an easy victory over the Bears, scoring 21 points in the first quarter.

Sept. 15

Cougar Stadium, Provo

No. 8 BYU 38, Tulsa 15

Recap: On the same day BYU's Sharlene Wells was crowned Miss America, the Cougars blow out the Golden Hurricane.

Sept. 22

Aloha Stadium, Honolulu

No. 6 BYU 18, Hawaii 13

Recap: Thanks to a key fourth-quarter defensive play by Kyle Morrell at the goal line, and a touchdown pass from Bosco to Glen Kozlowski in the closing minutes, the Cougars preserve their undefeated season with a narrow victory at Hawaii.

Oct. 6

Hughes Stadium, Fort Collins, Colo.

No. 7 BYU 52, Colorado State 9

Recap: Though the Cougars dropped in the polls after escaping Honolulu with a win, they come back strong, crushing the Rams as halfback Kelly Smith scores three touchdowns.
