 Between 20 percent and 30 percent of adolescents have one major depressive episode before they reach adulthood.

 One-fourth of those with mood disorders such as depression see them first emerge during adolescence.

 Between 50 percent and 75 percent of adolescents with anxiety and/or impulse-control disorders develop them during adolescence.

 Suicide is the third leading cause of death in adolescents and young adults.
