LEHI — Police are looking for a man they say entered a Lehi home and attacked a resident without provocation.

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, police say a man in his early 20s heard a knock at the front door of his parents' home at 2138 N. 790 West. He opened the door to find a man in a black tank top, camouflage shorts and Nike running shorts standing on the porch.

The suspect said, "Hello," then pushed the man in the chest and began fighting with him, said Lehi police officer Greg Neer.

"He didn't say anything (else)," Neer said. "They just fought."

The man tried to defend himself with his fists and feet. After a few minutes, he was able to escape from the wrestling match when the suspect ran out the back door, Neer said.

Police are still investigating whether the suspect had a knife and whether the man in the home had a gun and fired a shot. However, no one was injured, Neer said.

The victim, who was the only one home, immediately called police, and officers from Lehi, Utah County, the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, Utah Highway Patrol, American Fork, Alpine and Saratoga Springs responded and set up a three-block perimeter.

Neer said they used K-9s to try to locate the man. After an unsuccessful 90-minute search, the perimeter was terminated.

The man is described as in his late 20s or early 30s, roughly 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, with spiky, light-brown hair. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Lehi Police at 801-768-7110.
