Visit utahbotanicalcenter.org/files/uploads/Varga%20Arboretum.pdf to download a printout of the trees and shrubs in the Varga Arboretum. The planting is located about 920 S. 50 West in Kaysville. It is free and open to the public during daylight hours.
There are several plant diseases that are usually not a problem in Utah that are appearing in local gardens and landscapes. If you find serious problems, Utah State University Extension Master Gardeners conduct weekly diagnostic clinics at most of the counties in northern Utah. They can help identify problems and recommend solutions. For a list of the county offices and contact information, go to extension.usu.edu/htm/counties.
Brooke Howland will discuss roses at the free Garden Talks in the Park, Wednesday, July 1, 8 p.m., at the Brigham Young Historic Park, State Street and Second Avenue. In case of rain, call 801-240-5916, option 2, for an alternate location. For more information, log on to www.placestovisit.lds.org.
