WEST VALLEY — A 13-month-old girl survived a near-drowning Saturday night.
The girl's father noticed she was floating face up in the kiddie pool they'd set up in a corner of the backyard for a family gathering, dispatchers said. The pool, full of water, was about a foot deep.
He ran over and gave her the Heimlich maneuver. She quickly coughed up water and started breathing on her own. She went in and out of consciousness, but by the time paramedics arrived at 4962 W. Cherrywood Lane a few minutes later, she was awake and alert.
She was not transported to the hospital.
