Salt Lake County health officials say they've collected tons of old analog televisions for disposal.

They're still taking the obsolete TVs on select days this summer until Sept. 10 at public-works depots in Salt Lake City, Sandy and Holladay.

Dorothy Adams, manager of the Household Hazardous Waste program for the Salt Lake Valley Health Department, says people also can take old TVs to e-waste collection points at the West California Avenue landfill or the Trans Jordan landfill.

Adams says her office has been swamped by inquiries. She says people want to do the right thing disposing properly of old TVs, which contain heavy metals.
