Why bury GM story?

July 10 was a newsworthy — if not historic — day. Less than a week after we celebrated independence from an opressive government, our own government took control of General Motors. However, the Deseret News did not think it was important enough for even a front page teaser. Instead we got a spread about water safety and a story questioning if a flag was actually "retired by incineration" at the Stadium of Fire. The GM story was buried on Page 14 and was not among the top stories highlighted on the Web edition. Even the editorial staff had nothing to say.

Our government intrusion into the private sector is alarming. But even more frightening is the fact that the public is not distressed about it.
