EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Final state approval has been given for a fifth well in Eagle Mountain.

With the new well and upgrades to the existing well system, Eagle Mountain has added 4,500 gallons per minute to its water system, nearly doubling its previous capacity.

For the past few years, Eagle Mountain has experienced water restrictions for parks and open spaces beyond those required by the city's existing watering ordinance. When one of the city's wells broke down in 2007, residents experienced even greater restrictions.

Along with the fifth well, the city has completed an irrigation line that will allow the Kiowa Valley well to directly irrigate open spaces along Pony Express Parkway and Ranches Parkway.

The city is also constructing a 2 million-gallon water tank that is expected to be completed later this year.
