'Star spangled Girl' among openings
Here's a rundown of this week's theater offerings.
"Star Spangled Girl," July 17-Aug. 8, Heritage Theatre, 2505 S. Hwy. 89, Perry.
A funny Neil Simon tale of love and politics as two young men are running a publishing office for a protest magazine in their apartment. But, once they meet their all-Americangirl neighbor, all bets are off. The show stars BJ Whimpey, Derek Williamson and Samantha Christensen.
Shows are Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8-$9 (435-723-8392 or www.heritagetheatreutah.com).
"The Spider and the Bee" and "I Never Saw Another Butterfly," July 18, Ed Kenley Amphitheater, Layton.
Davis Arts Council, in conjunction with the Theatre Arts Conservatory, bring their educational tour to the amphitheater for one night only.
"The Spider and the Bee," is a fun, humorous and engaging story about the importance and differences of science versus art.
"I Saw Another Butterfly" is based on the true story of a young girl living in the Czechoslovakian ghetto during World War II — a story of strength and hope.
The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5-$6 (801-546-8575 or www.davisarts.org).
"A Very Small House," Murray Arts in the Park, July 17, Murray Park Pavillion No. 5.
This puppet show is a charming Polish folktale. A farmer thinks his house is too small, so he goes to the mayor for advice.
The mayor tells him to bring in his barnyard animals, one by one. Now he has a chicken in his bed.
The free show starts at 2 p.m.
