Utah Jazz won't meet up with Lopez on European trip

Tomic had a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double when Croatia beat Greece last weekend to win the XVI Mediterranean Games tournament in Pescara, Italy — a tourney in which he averaged an event-high 9.8 boards over six games.

The Jazz control his NBA rights and haven't ruled out bringing him to Utah — though not until sometime after the conclusion of next season.

Tomic recently was weighing offers from two teams in Europe, though one of them — Israeli League power Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv — earlier this week signed ex-NBA center Maciej Lampe of Poland away from Khimki Moscow.

The other offer was from the Spanish team Pamesa Valencia, which reportedly was having difficulty agreeing on a transfer fee with his most recent team.

Tomic has been playing in his native Croatia for KK Zagreb of the Adriatic League, and he'll play this September for Croatia at the Eurobasket2009 European championships tournament in Poland.

Eurobasket.com reported that Tomic "stated that he would prefer to join Valencia," which is coached by a Croatian, Neven Spahija.

Fesenko, incidentally, skipped playing for the Jazz in the ongoing Orlando Pro Summer League and instead is training this month with his Ukrainian national team.

TRADE TALK: As part of the four-team, multi-player trade that facilitated Shawn Marion's move from Toronto to Dallas and Hedo Turkoglu's from Orlando to Toronto this week, ex-Jazz forward and 2004 first-round draft choice Kris Humphries goes from Toronto to Dallas.

Humphries, ESPN.com's John Hollinger wrote, is "an underrated and productive player who likely takes over Brandon Bass' role as a scoring big man off the (Mavericks') bench."

Humphries' salary for next season is $2.9 million and he has a $3.2 million player option for the 2010-11 season.
