BLUFFDALE — A brush fire burned close to a half acre of a field on the west end of Bluffdale Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was called in at about 4 p.m. near 3000 West and 15000 South, Bluffdale Fire Capt. Marty Glover said.

"The field did border a couple of large homes but it didn't get within 200 or 300 yards of them," Glover said. "But because of the winds, it did take off on us while we worked to contain it."

Investigators could not locate any witnesses to the fire, but given the location they suspect it was human-caused, Glover said.
