GREAT NEWS: The producers of "Lost" are promising — cross their hearts and hope to die — that the end of the show will be the end of the show.
According to the British magazine Broadcast, executive producer Damon Lindeloff, speaking at an event in London, said he has no intention of extending the narrative with comic books or a theatrical film or anything else. And the end will be the end.
"We won't be vague and ambiguous — there will be a lot of answers," Lindelof said. "We feel that if we hold anything back in the final season, it would be bad.
"Everyone's come this far, and they want a conclusion to the story. We have no plans to continue the story of 'Lost' beyond (season) six. My wife says 'never say never.' I say 'never.' "
This is outstanding. The last thing we need is a big finale that isn't the finale.
NOT-SO-GREAT NEWS: On the flip side, it's been confirmed that Brian K. Vaughn has left the "Lost" writing staff.
Vaughn joined the staff in the middle of the third season, and has been credited with helping bring the show back from the brink of creative destruction.
In other words, he helped make what had become a bad show into a good one again.
