The Pacific Coast League announced today that Salt Lake Bees outfielder and 2009 PCL All-Star Terry Evans has been selected to participate in the Triple-A Home Run Derby on July 13, as part of the three-day All-Star festivities.

Top sluggers from the International League and PCL will compete in three rounds of hitting at PGE Park beginning at 8 p.m. (MT). Two Portland area high school players who qualified through preliminaries earlier this season at PGE Park will join the Triple-A sluggers.

Evans, a 27-year-old native of Dublin, Ga., has appeared in 82 games for the Bees in 2009, hitting .286 with 21 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 59 RBI and a team-high 17 stolen bases. He is currently tied for the fourth-most home runs in the PCL this season.

Evans was also named a PCL All-Star in 2007. A right shoulder strain limited him to only 46 games in 2008 after a career year in 2007, including his major league debut with the Angels on June 17, 2007. He has appeared in a total of eight games for the Halos. Evans joined the Angels organization from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Jeff Weaver on July 5, 2006.
