BENSON, Cache County — An 8-year-old boy died near Benson on Tuesday evening after being hit by a tractor.

The Cache County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about 8 p.m. and said it appeared the boy jumped off a hay trailer and was run over. The trailer was being pulled by a tractor driven by a family member.

The boy was treated at the scene before being transported to Logan Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are not releasing the name of the boy or the specific location of the farm until they notify his family.
