BYU Cougars

PDL Standings: 5-4-3, 18 points, 4th place, Southwest Division

Last week: Beat Ogden, 1-0; beat Ogden, 1-0.

Next up: vs. Fresno, Friday.

BYU took care of business against arch-rival last weekend, as the Cougars posted back-to-back 1-0 wins over the Ogden Outlaws. In both matches, the Cougars scored their loan goal off a free kick. Richie Bindrup scored to give BYU a 1-0 win last Wednesday, while Zack DeFrancis scored to give the Cougars a win by the same scoreline three days later. Those two victories allowed BYU to jump from seventh place to fourth in the Southwest Division of the PDL.

Ogden Outlaws

PDL Standings: 1-10-1, 4 points, 10th place, Southwest Division

Last week: Lost to BYU, 1-0; lost to BYU, 1-0.

Next up: vs. Orange County, Friday.

Another week, another pair of disappointing results for the Outlaws, as they fell to BYU twice within the space of three days by the same 1-0 scoreline. At times, Ogden got after the Cougars in both games but couldn't find a way to stick the ball in the net. BYU, however, managed to stick a goal away in each contest to net the victories. Going forward, Ogden will simply look to play as well as possible between now and the end of the season.

Salt Lake Sparta

WPSL Standings: 5-2-1, 16 points, 1st place, Big Sky North Division

Last week: Beat Denver, 2-1.

Next up: vs. Utah, today.

Sparta picked up a crucial 2-1 win over Denver on the Fourth of July to leapfrog Arizona by a point and move back into first place in the Big Sky North Division. Salt Lake had a game in hand over Arizona going into last weekend, and Sparta took advantage by picking up three points to move into first place with only a handful of games remaining. Salt Lake will meet the Utah Starzz at 6 p.m. tonight at Ute Field.

Utah Starzz

WPSL Standings: 2-2-4, 10 points, 3rd place, Big Sky North Division

Last week: Beat Denver, 1-0.

Next up: at Salt Lake, today.

The Starzz have been trying to put it all together this season, and they took a step forward by beating Denver 1-0 last weekend. With eight games played, Utah finds itself six points behind first-place Salt Lake in the Big Sky North Standings. The Starzz will have a chance to narrow that gap when they travel to face Salt Lake tonight at 6 p.m. at Ute Field. The Starzz will then depart for Arizona, where they'll face the Arizona Rush in back-to-back games.
