Police asking for help in identifying suspect in West Jordan robbery

Surveillance video at the Maverik Country Store, 3985 W. 7800 South, show a masked man who later pointed a handgun at the clerk, and demanded money. The suspect is described as a male in his late twenties or early thirties, 5-feet-8 inches, approximately 150 pounds, with brown eyes.

WEST JORDAN — Police are looking for a man who robbed a West Jordan convenience store Tuesday morning at gunpoint.

At about 4:30 a.m. a masked man came into the Maverik Country Store at 3985 W. 7800 South, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, West Jordan Police Sgt. Drew Sanders said.

The clerk gave the man money from the cash register and the men left the store on foot and jumped a fence in back of the building. The clerk was not injured or threatened during the incident, Sanders said.

The man is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot-eight inches tall, and approximately 150 pounds, with brown eyes.

He is thought to be either Hispanic or Caucasian, Sanders said.

The man was wearing rectangular shaped eyeglasses with chrome colored wire frames, and was carrying a cloth bag that was red, green and yellow.
