I'm sorry Patricia Pett (Reader's Forum, July 5) and others feel annoyed at the Tabernacle Choir's "long note endings." Being a musician, she should know those endings require not only talent, finesse and good intonation, but a lot of muscle and physical stamina. Sustaining the pitch not just in forte but in pianissimo is kind of our trademark in the choir.
On this side of the stage, I find those long notes completely exhilarating and fulfilling when all the above has been accomplished.
