WEST VALLEY CITY — A woman was found dead in her backyard pond Sunday night.

The woman, 73, was found by a man who rented a small cottage on her property near 3241 S. Hillside Drive at around 8:30 p.m. West Valley Police Lt. Dalan Taylor said the man called 911 and began CPR until paramedics arrived, but they were unable to revive the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Taylor said officers are trying to determine how long the woman had been in the water and if any health complications may have preceded her drowning.
