OGDEN — A 42-year-old Ogden man was shot three times after he confronted a man trying to burglarize his home, police said.

Ogden Police Lt. Mike Ashment said a homeowner on Canyon Road woke up about 11 p.m. Friday when he heard someone entering his home through an open window on the second floor. Before calling 911, the man left his bedroom to confront the burglar.

A struggle ensued, and the burglar shot the man with a handgun in the lower abdomen, left hand and right leg before making his exit through a screen door.

The victim was taken by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital Center in critical condition.

The homeowner was unable to provide a description of the burglar, police said. Nothing was reported missing from the home.
